OVERVIEW

The Director of Community Innovation will lead collaborative efforts to address important community priorities by bringing together leaders, organizations, resources, and ideas across sectors. This role will facilitate strategic planning, develop partnerships and financing strategies, and lead innovative initiatives that turn promising ideas into measurable community impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead cross-sector planning, strategy sessions, and collaborative initiatives.
• Develop actionable strategies with clear goals, milestones, resources, and measures of success.
• Build partnerships with public, private, philanthropic, development, and financing organizations.
• Develop financing strategies that leverage resources and support successful project implementation.
• Lead the innovation portfolio, including pilots, partnerships, technologies, and new approaches to persistent community challenges.
• Support major community priorities, including housing initiatives focused on increasing supply and exploring innovative rural housing solutions.
• Bring together technical, financial, research, development, and community expertise to advance complex projects.
• Lead grant development and major community initiatives from strategy through implementation.
• Measure and communicate the community, economic, and financial impact of investments and initiatives.
• Represent the community externally and lead, supervise, and develop the Community Innovation team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of experience leading complex projects, solving problems, building partnerships, and moving ideas into action.
• Experience supervising and developing team members.
• Strong strategic thinking, facilitation, relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to turn complex information into clear strategies, actions, presentations, and compelling stories.
• Strong project management, organizational, communication, and technology skills.
• Curiosity, adaptability, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Experience may come from community development, finance, business, government, consulting, philanthropy, innovation, project management, strategic planning, systems design, or a related field.

LOCATION & COMPENSATION:

• Location: Muscatine County, Iowa; local residency required
• Schedule: Full-time, exempt
• Pay: $70,000 annually
• Travel: Occasional
