Tool & Die Maker (Press Benchman)

OVERVIEW
The Press Benchman will analyze die performance, make changes and repairs directed from a work order or specific die layout specification. Disassemble production dies for maintenance purposes by correcting faults or tooling issues either during a production run or after that run. Use of basic hand tools and measuring veneers and micrometers. The Press Benchman reports to the Press Bench Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand part print specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product.

Set-up and operate machine tools such as grinder, lathes, drill presses to repair parts from the production die to further a production run or maintenance.

Verify dimension, alignments, and clearances.

Examine standard or previously used dies, jigs, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of a part.

Complete all paperwork and reports to track what maintenance has been done.

Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma. Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, not required for an entry position.
**If candidate has a One-year certificate from college or technical school, candidate will be considered for Press Benchman
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift License required.

The employee must regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Moving/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance from another employee or a lifting device/hoist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
